Bright, cheerful, and full of festive charm — the Poinsettia, also known as the Christmas Star, is a timeless symbol of the holiday season. Its striking red bracts bring a burst of colour to any home, perfectly complementing the greenery of your festive décor.

While famous for its seasonal beauty, the Poinsettia is also a long-lasting houseplant that, with a little care, can thrive well beyond Christmas — returning year after year as a joyful reminder of natural celebration and renewal.

Plant Care Instructions

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Too little light will cause leaves to drop; too much direct sun can scorch the foliage.

Water: Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water only when the top 2–3 cm feels dry, ensuring good drainage. Avoid letting the plant sit in water.

Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in warm indoor conditions (18–25°C). Avoid cold drafts, heaters, and sudden temperature changes — Poinsettias are sensitive to chills.

Feeding: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser if you keep your plant beyond the festive season. No feeding is needed while flowering.

After Flowering: In late winter, prune back faded stems and allow a rest period. New growth will appear in spring. To re-colour for next Christmas, provide 12–14 hours of darkness each night for 8 weeks in early autumn.
