Eucomis autumnalis is a hardy, bulbous perennial prized for its distinctive “pineapple-like” flower spikes. Strappy green leaves form a neat rosette at the base, and in summer it produces tall stems topped with creamy-white, star-shaped flowers crowned by a tuft of leafy bracts. This resilient plant thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers well-drained soil. It’s water-wise once established and ideal for garden beds, borders, rockeries, and containers. Eucomis autumnalis is also known for its traditional medicinal uses.
